Zonar Zagreb Hotel
At Zonar Zagreb Hotel, bespoke laminated glass elements by Silvio and Sons are integrated throughout several public spaces, creating distinct spatial identities through textile, mirror, and light-responsive materials.
At the ground floor reception, the front desk wall is constructed from individually cut glass panels containing textile layers dyed with dispersed pigments. The textiles are hand-treated, stitched, and laminated within the glass, allowing the pigment to settle organically within the fibers. The result is a series of softly layered surfaces that combine material depth with translucency, forming a calm yet expressive architectural backdrop for the reception area.
Within the restaurant space, circular glass elements introduce a contrasting spatial gesture. These glass discs contain laminated crystal structures combined with mirrored text elements, creating surfaces that interact with light, reflection, and movement. The circular compositions function simultaneously as graphic elements and reflective spatial markers, adding visual rhythm to the interior.
On the first floor, the gym is separated from the adjacent event space through a series of laminated glass partitions featuring a perforated dot motif. The glass contains a laminated yellow UV filter combined with mirrored negative circles. This layered construction produces a dual visual effect: from one side the surface appears yellow-golden, while from the opposite side it reads as yellow-silver. The perforated pattern allows light and movement to pass through the surface while maintaining spatial separation between the two zones.
Across the hotel, glass is treated as an active architectural material rather than a neutral boundary. Textile, pigment, mirror, and light interact within laminated structures, producing surfaces that shift in color, reflection, and transparency depending on viewpoint and lighting conditions.
